SANDX - ‘Find the X for Sand’What do we do? Highlight “no-go” zones for sand extractions by creating an interactive map with a robust data set that consists of various sources, from satellite images to videos, pictures, and (news) stories that present future impacts of sand extraction on a local and global scale. The project aims to link these extractions sites to the infrastructure projects that demand their continued operation and help key stakeholders make informed decisions about the sand crisis at hand.

The Sand MerchantThrough their amazing board game, Sand Merchant tries to make architects and engineers in construction site aware of the sand problem and existing alternatives. In the game, players take different role of the stakeholder and try to expand their capital as much as possible by extracting sand and constructing different type of buildings. Emerging in the role of the stakeholder in the game, players can learn the negative impacts of extracting too much sand and importance of alternatives. Sand Merchant believes that making architectures and engineers aware of sand issue and alternatives can be a first step toward a paradigm shift to build differently.
